We’re looking for an outstanding teacher for Northgate School, a pupil referral unit for children and adolescents with mental health challenges based at Edgware Community Hospital. Northgate School delivers a personalised curriculum, tailored to and driven by the individual students. We are responsible for the education of day students who live at home and are supported by Community CAMHS, as well as the inpatients at The Beacon Centre, a Tier 4 CAMHS acute adolescent mental health unit. This role has arisen due to a new day bed service starting at The Beacon Centre and in increase in the number of teaching hours needed and the role includes opportunities to contribute to the development of the provision.

We will consider applicants from the range of subject areas including primary trained colleagues, however flexibility to teach outside of that specialism is also required. As a teacher at Northgate School, you will take a creative approach to teaching pupils according to their educational needs, ensuring delivery of the school curriculum in a way that maximises student’s achievement and ability to develop. You will be working in a school where we maintain a strong safeguarding culture, where students are listened to, respected and involved in as many decisions as possible.

We are looking for an experienced teacher, who shares our vision to provide a unique and adaptable learning environment that reflects our students' specific education and wellbeing needs, helping them to invest in their futures and supporting them with their mental health so that students achieve their potential.

Whilst previous experience of working in an SEMH environment would be desirable, excellent teaching skills and the right motivation, personal qualities including flexibility and initiative as well as high levels of resilience are just as important.

Educated to degree level and with Qualified Teacher Status, you will be calm, engaging, resilient, and have an innovative style of teaching, motivated by helping every student to reach their potential.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers, online searches and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
