Opened in 2010 Keighley College has excellent modern facilities and provides a professional and friendly environment. The college has superb training resources including a fully equipped Motor Vehicle workshop, Industry standard Fabrication and Welding workshop, State of the art Engineering facilities (including our newly created Industrial Centre of Excellence (ICE), Luxurious Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy Salons and Electrical Installation, Plumbing, Brickwork and Carpentry & Joinery Workshops. The site also has Childcare training rooms.

Keighley College is also home to the unique STAR Centre, a specialist hub promoting science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects to young people and the Fab Lab, which offers the latest in digital fabrication equipment along with a friendly atmosphere where users can build, code, solder, design and engineer their own products.

Starting in January 2018 until July 2019, Keighley College is offering an exciting new apprenticeship opportunity, where you can gain practical experience at the same time as obtaining a Level 5 teaching qualification.

As an apprentice Learning and Skills Teacher, you will undertake a fully funded Higher Level Teacher Apprenticeship, that is mapped to a  Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training.  This is a fantastic opportunity to start a career in teaching and learn from industry experts along the way, undertaking your role within the Technology department within the College.

This would be an ideal opportunity for you if you:

  • Have achieved maths, English and ICT skills at Level 2 (equivalent to GCSE Grade C or above). 
  • Have a specialist subject  or vocational qualification at Level 3 (or above) in either Joinery, Brickwork, Electrical or Engineering.
  • Want to work alongside experienced teachers to develop work related skills in further education college and or Schools.
  • Are passionate, a great communicator, want to enthuse learners and can operate well within a team.

This apprenticeship will last for at least 18 months, and at the end of your apprenticeship you will qualify as a Learning and Skills Teacher (LST), enabling you to teach young people and adults within all parts of the Education and Training Sector (ETS) in the future, including work based/ independent training provision; further, adults and higher education; offender learning; and the voluntary sector.
