At Priory Queenswood School in Ledbury, the teaching of Art enriches children’s lives in so many ways. We know that it promotes creativity, encourages self-expression and contributes significantly to the intellectual and imaginative development of our pupils. In pursuing these goals, we have also become a thriving independent Special Needs School – and we are now looking for a talented Art Teacher to join our highly supportive and engaged team in January 2017.

We can promise you an environment that’s challenging and rewarding in equal measure. Working closely with colleagues in our associated children’s homes, we care for and educate up to 50 boys and girls aged 11 – 18 with social, emotional and mental health difficulties and a range of additional complex needs. Our most recent Ofsted report graded the school as Good, with a judgement of Outstanding for behaviour and safety.

You will help build on this success by leading and delivering at KS3, 4 and 5 to classes of up to six pupils. This will involve developing and engaging with some of the most vulnerable children in the education system, using your expertise to inspire them and create a learning environment that is fun and flexible enough to meet their individual needs.

As you might expect, experience in a Special School setting and excellent behaviour management skills would be an advantage for this role. We also welcome applications from newly qualified and experienced teachers who combine both primary and secondary experience with a good understanding of the secondary curriculum. If you are an NQT, you can of course complete your NQT year at the school. In all cases, you will be an effective classroom practitioner with the resilience, enthusiasm and flexibility to excel as part of a team that values your expertise and encourages you to share in the school’s leadership.

However, that’s just the start. It’s equally important that you are flexible, enthusiastic, have a great sense of humour. This is a fun place to work where people are happy and everyone achieves as part of our close and supportive team.
