Position Information 

Bathurst Public School has a proud heritage as the oldest public school in the district. with an enrolment of 509 students, Located within Bathurst Central District Area, our student enrolments are drawn from an established residential area.

Bathurst Public School has 19 mainstream classes, 5 support classes, and 68 staff, including itinerant teachers, the Home School Liaison Officer, and specialist teachers. Our student population has on average 12% Aboriginal students, with a growing percentage of students from non-English speaking backgrounds, which currently sits at 12%.

Specialist teaching staff, from within the school and the community, provide an extensive performing arts program that provides students with a range of performance opportunities; from the Sydney Opera House and the Schools Spectacular to local eisteddfods and a major school concert.

The school provides many sporting opportunities for students, with a variety of sports being offered through PSSA sporting competitions. Each year, we have students who are selected to represent the district and region in a wide range of sports.

Our school is supported by an active P&C, AECG and has good parental and community involvement.

Specific Selection Criteria 

Approval to teach Infants and Primary (K-6) with demonstrated excellence in evidence-based classroom teaching practices including developing and delivering high quality differentiated learning to meet the diverse needs of all students. 

Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a collaborative team and build positive relationships with students, staff and the community to promote learning.

Demonstrated ability to use quality assessment practices and analyse student data to provide feedback to students and inform teaching practices that improve learning outcomes and promote high expectations.

Demonstrated ability to build and contribute to a positive school culture and school-wide wellbeing practices.

Proven commitment to support whole school programs and extra curricular activities that support students academically, socially and emotionally such as drama, dance, choir, music, Sport and Public speaking.

Understanding of and sensitivity to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and students from non-English-Speaking backgrounds.
