Teacher - Biology

The successful candidate will become sole teacher of Biology within the school but also be part of a team of three Scientists delivering the Science Curriculum in the BGE. The successful candidate will have responsibility for:-

• Teaching assigned classes in Biology
• Developing the school curriculum Biology and contributing with other staff to developments in other areas.
• Developing work in STEM and Learning for Sustainability.
• Contributing to the school’s program of Wider Achievement.
• Assessing, recording and reporting on the work of pupils in line with school policy.
• Preparing pupils for examinations and assisting with their administration.
• Providing advice and guidance to pupils on issues related to their education.
• Promoting and safeguarding the health, welfare and safety of pupils.
• Working in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals.
• Undertaking appropriate and agreed continuing professional development.
•  Participating in issues related to school improvement planning; evaluating standards and quality within the department; the raising achievement agenda and individual review or pupils.
• Maintain good order and discipline among pupils and to safeguard their health and safety.
• Any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Head Teacher or their Depute.

The village of Ullapool is set in a beautiful part of North West Scotland and it has a strong and active community spirit. The school itself has 200 pupils, with great family feel within the building and working relationships that were described as ‘excellent’ in a recent Council evaluation visit.
