Teacher

From September 2021, due to expansion we will require an enthusiastic, qualified teacher to lead our 6th form formal pathway students at our new building, ‘The Hive’ by Abington Woods.

Please note that this role does not involve a whole school responsibility and as such does not form part of the current leadership structure.

In addition to the job description of a class teacher, the role will involve working with the pathway lead to ensure a smooth and successful transition for students and staff to The Hive and ensuring a fit-for-purpose life skills curriculum that develops students’ vocational and independence skills.

 The vision for The Hive is that Darwin class will be located there full-time, but in the future once it is up and running as a hub within the local community, the provision would also be accessed by other secondary classes for work experience opportunities at the café or in the garden and Enterprise sessions. 

 Initially, a member of the Senior Leadership Team will be based at The Hive daily in order to provide support throughout the first term at least. Thereafter, once established, the teacher will be expected to manage the provision with some onsite and some remote support and will be asked to train as a Designated Person in order to manage safeguarding concerns that arise, with remote support from the SLT.

 This is a really exciting opportunity and we are looking for applications from practitioners who are passionate about life skill development, preparing for adulthood outcomes and are innovative and keen to establish Granta further within a local community.
