An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a dynamic suitably qualified teacher of Computer Science who has a real passion for the subject and is capable of teaching across all key stages and inspire, challenge and stimulate students. The post would equally suit an outstanding newly qualified or experienced teacher who has obtained a good degree in Computer Science or a related discipline. The ability or willingness to teach A Level Computer Science is desirable but not essential and we are committed to investing in your professional development. For NQTs, three weeks’ work in July is offered as an induction to the school.
At Vyners you will join a well-established IT and Computer Science department as part of a supportive and aspirational team. The department has achieved an impressive pass rate in 2019: 96% A* - C in GCSE IT and 100% 9 – 4 in (OCR) Computer Science with a remarkable 79% 9 – 7. The P8 score for the department was 1.06. At A level, the results were an ALPS 3 score with 91% A* - C in (OCR) Computer Science. We encourage applications from someone with the mindset to become an outstanding teacher and who is looking to develop their career within a highly successful Computer Science department.
Vyners is a very popular and oversubscribed mixed eight form entry, 11-18 comprehensive school, situated in a pleasant residential area in North West London, bordering Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. We have a track record of real success at all Key Stages. In 2019, 87% of students achieved grades 9-4 in both English and Maths at GCSE and we are consistently ranked in the top 10% of all schools nationally for progress measures and attainment. At A-Level 33% of all grades were A* - A and 54% A* - B. The school converted to academy status on 1 November 2011 and is part of the Vanguard Learning Trust which also includes one other secondary and one primary school.
We are well known for high academic standards, good behaviour, and our strong community spirit including a strong house system with students leading their peers. “Pupils have a positive attitude towards their work and enjoy learning” (Ofsted 2018). Many students are involved in extracurricular sport, music and drama, performing at a high level including prestigious public events and performing in our own school productions.

About Vyners School
Vyners School is a non-denominational, mixed secondary school and sixth form located in Ickenham, in the London Borough of Hillingdon.
The school is named after Sir Robert Vyner, who was a Lord Mayor of London and lived nearby. It first opened its doors as a grammar school in early 1960, and later became a comprehensive school. It gained academy status in 2011 and has around 1,200 students aged 11-18.

Vyners School encourages students to be resilient, unafraid to take calculated risks and make mistakes. Its values, the school hopes, will help pupils to stretch themselves, because the most valuable learning often takes place outside their comfort zone.
The school seeks to blend a 21st-century education with more traditional behavioural and uniform standards. It aims to produce rounded and grounded young people who will make a positive contribution to the world. Vyners School specialises in mathematics and computing.
