We're seeking a dynamic and passionate teacher of Economics & Business, to join the teaching team in our school located in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The start date is September 2025.
Responsible for teaching Economics with Business to students up to A-Level, this role will involve working as a Form Tutor in our pastoral team, and may include teaching classes in Key Stage 3. The successful candidate should have a recognised teaching qualification (ideally a B.Ed. and/or PGCE), and at least four years' experience of teaching GCSE and A Level subject classes, ideally in a UK school or an international school environment.
Role and Responsibilities
- Deliver high quality teaching, learning & curriculum development across Key Stages
- Create a stimulating class environment
- Develop appropriate and differentiated schemes of work from Key Stage 4 & 5, for the teaching of Economics & Business
- Plan & prepare courses for assigned timetabled classes and groups
- Monitor & track pupils’ achievements at regular intervals, as required
- Ensure effective teaching of the subject, including evaluation of teaching and quality standards, and pupils’ achievements
- Keep up to date with subject development & take part in regular in-service training
- Participate in preparing pupils for internal & external examinations
- Make provision for students of differing ability in all subjects
- Provide opportunities for digital technology within the curriculum
- Create a culture of achievement, where students aspire to do their best
- Perform the role of a Form Tutor, working closely with the pastoral team to provide care and support for the well-being of pupils/students
- Take part in review, development & management of activities relating to the curriculum and organisation of the school
- Participate in faculty & other meetings relating to curriculum and the school
- Consult and liaise with parents & attend meetings arranged for that purpose
- Participate in professional development and training, as required
- Develop & deliver extra-curricular activities & opportunities across the Key Stages, as required
- Work collaboratively with other members of the school
- Identify appropriate resources for the subject, including off-site facilities and the use of school residential trips
- Develop and implement subject policies, plans, target, and practices within the context of the school's aims and policies
- Participate in the break duty roster, as assigned
- Undertake cover duties for colleagues, as assigned
Essential experience, skills and abilities
- Recognised teaching qualifications (e.g. PGCE / QTS, and/or B.Ed.)
- Minimum four years’ teaching experience in the UK for the British curriculum including GCSEs and A levels, or in an international school environment
- Strong EduTech & IT skills
- Experience of teaching pupils with English as an additional language
- Enthusiasm that inspires others
- The desire to work in an international school environment
Desirable experience, skills and abilities
- Experience of teaching another subject at Key Stage 3
