Manchester Health Academy opened in September 2009 and is sponsored by Central Manchester NHS Foundation Trust with Manchester City Council as co-sponsor. In September 2010 the Academy moved into a £20 million state-of-the-art building and is now amongst the most popular schools in the city, showing significant academic improvement, a rapidly expanding student population and growing sixth form provision. Rated by Ofsted in April 2015 as a good school, with many outstanding features, we are now embarking on the next stage of our journey to outstanding and are looking for exceptional and inspiring individuals to help us achieve this ambition.
Our vision is to combine education and health in transforming the futures of our young people. We are on the journey to becoming the provider of choice in a secondary setting and the hub of our local community: we will achieve this ambition. Does this excite you? Do you want to be part of something outstanding?
As a member of the Academy teaching staff you will be tasked with delivering an exceptional standard of teaching and learning, which raises aspirations and leads our students to the achievement of the highest academic standards. Further improving results in English is a key aspect of this and there are numerous exciting projects running to support this progress; these include a whole Academy reading scheme and the opening of our new Learning Resource Centre. English also work closely alongside the Media Department, giving staff opportunities for involvement in the delivery of the Media GCSE course and a chance to contribute to maintaining the high results achieved to date. This role therefore represents a real opportunity to work as a member of a committed and highly innovative team, where collaboration and creativity is essential. We are looking for a highly original and dedicated individual, able to make an exceptional contribution to a strong team. Motivation, enthusiasm and a genuine desire to inspire and improve outcomes for our students is essential. Experience in teaching students with specific educational needs, including those with low literacy levels is also a must for this role. In return we will promise you a stimulating, supportive and rewarding working environment, where all staff are valued and encouraged to take a leading role in the development of the Academy vision and strategy. You will also have the opportunity to access a range of excellent professional opportunities to support your progression.
