Xavier Catholic College is a mixed, non-selective, independent Roman Catholic secondary school in New South Wales, serving students from the age of 11-18. The secondary school is situated in Skennars Head.
Xavier Catholic College opened in 2000. The school is dedicated to serving the parish community in the local area and has strong links to the parish family. Teachers and parents expressed their satisfaction with the running of the school in the latest annual report. Facilities at the secondary school include a purpose built technology centre, complete with wood technology rooms, wood working bays, textile rooms, graphic design rooms and commercial training kitchens. There is also a library, drama theatre, dance studio and music rooms, digital editing suites, computer suites, sports courts, an art courtyard and a ceramic and pottery kiln.
Curriculum
The secondary school provides a broad and balanced learning programme in accordance with the Board of Studies and Teaching and Educational Standards (BOSTES) syllabuses for Secondary Education. Students in Year 11 have the opportunity to take Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses, which range from hospitality to retail services, allowing for them to gain practical, career-focused experience. A Learning Centre offers additional help for students with learning difficulties, offering additional tutorial programmes and teaching assistance.
