At Priory Education we are proud of our reputation for delivering quality education and care services with positive outcomes for children and young people aged 5 to 25 who have experienced difficulties in their previous education placements.

Chelmsford Hospital School is an independent co-educational day school for seventeen young people aged 11 to 18 with mental health problems. The young people we support are all inpatients of the Tier 4 CAMHS Unit at The Priory Hospital Chelmsford, Essex.  We have a small specialist team of teachers and teaching assistants who deliver education to all young people at the hospital, where the school is based.

Our goal is for every young person to develop their courage, determination and skills as a learner, so they can re-engage confidently with learning during their admission and sustain this on discharge. We liaise with mainstream schools and colleges to support successful transitions.  Each young person has an individualised curriculum plan in each subject area, with both academic and wellbeing closely monitored to maximise progress and success.  Our school offers a broad based academic and enrichment curriculum alongside bespoke themed programmes within its own teaching spaces, teaching technologies and outside spaces.

The school is part of a cluster of similar schools in the southern region.  Staff teams liaise closely, sharing expertise and resources, and collaborative working is the norm.

We would like to recruit a colleague who will share our vision of student-centred learning, framed within an exciting and flexible curriculum.

We are a close-knit, supportive team and aim to recruit a like-minded colleague who will embrace the opportunity to deliver a wide ranging curriculum across all key stages.

We set high standards for teaching and learning and our students have very good levels of attendance and engagement.  You will need to be an outstanding practitioner, committed to the best possible outcomes for young people, passionate about influencing educational best practice and able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team of professionals.

A flexible, enthusiastic and self-motivated teacher; you must be able to support forward thinking change and respond quickly to the needs of each young person we teach.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for our Maths curriculum as well as the pastoral care of a small tutor group.

Candidates with specialisms other than Maths will be considered.

We will also consider candidates who are unqualified teachers.  We can offer training opportunities leading to QTS for suitable candidates.

This is an excellent opportunity for those with a background in mainstream or specialist education or community provision who are looking to move into a specialist mental health  setting.

If you have relevant experience, then why not contact our Head of School Clare Drury at ClareDrury@priorygroup.com to arrange time for an informal chat.  Visits to the school are also warmly welcome.

Closing date is Monday 1st July 2019, with interviews to be held in the following week.
