Position Information 

Willyama High School (enrolment 537 students, including 120 Aboriginal students) is a comprehensive high school located in Broken Hill in Far West NSW. Our school has established positive relationships and strong connections with our local community with a focus on evidence-based teaching and learning practices that inspire our students to excel through academic, sporting, extra-curricular and cultural endeavours. There is a strong focus on using technology in the classroom and improving literacy and numeracy throughout our school. Specific Selection Criteria 

Approval to teach Food Technology. Approval to teach or preparedness to undertake VET teacher training in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) providing the qualification entry benchmark is met. 

Demonstrated ability to implement evidence-based teaching practices to engage and develop students with a wide range of abilities with a focus on improving literacy. 

Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents. 

Demonstrated ability to effectively implement technology in the classroom, including modern and innovative practices, with a focus on improving teaching and learning. 

Demonstrated understanding of, and the capacity to cater for, the needs of Aboriginal students.

  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

 

From 8 November 2021 all Department of Education employees undertaking relevant work, including any work conducted on a NSW school site, will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The successful candidate for this position will be required to confirm full vaccination status prior to the Department of Education finalising the appointment of the candidate and entry on duty. The successful applicant may be eligible to receive a one-off recruitment payment of $20,000. Conditions apply.
