Position Information 

Gillieston Public School in the lower Hunter Valley near the regional city of Maitland has 258 students enrolled with 15% Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. The school works in partnership with the Korreil Wonnai Aboriginal Education Consultative Group and has an active and engaged Parents and Citizens Association. It is part of the Kurri Kurri High School Learning Community. 

Gillieston Public School supports all students to be safe, respectful, learners through the explicit teaching of expected behaviours with strong programs to support students to be successful lifelong learners.  The school has experienced significant enrolment growth recently in the thriving Gillieston and Gillieston Heights Community.

Specific Selection Criteria 

1. Approval to teach Infants and Primary with a demonstrated ability to deliver high quality, differentiated literacy and numeracy programs using evidence based and data informed practices to improve student outcomes.

2. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to work collaboratively, proactively and professionally with colleagues, parents, carers, school learning support officers, support agencies and the wider community.

3. An active member of the school community with the ability to implement or collaboratively lead extra-curricular activities such as whole school sporting programs and dance programs.

4. Demonstrated ability to model and implement the innovative use of technology to enhance quality teaching and learning
