Teaching ServiceBathurst Public School has a proud heritage as the oldest public school in the district. Located within the Bathurst Central District Area, our student enrolments of 512 are drawn from an established residential area. Bathurst Public School has 19 mainstream classes, 5 support classes and 68 staff, including itinerant teachers, the Home School Liaison Officer, and specialist teachers. Our student population has on average 12% of Aboriginal students, with a growing percentage of students from non-English speak backgrounds, which currently sits at 12%.
The Bathurst Itinerant Hearing Support Team has been based at Bathurst Public School for several years and services approximately 38 schools and preschools across the Bathurst and Lithgow Networks. The enthusiastic and dedicated ISTH staff has a strong commitment to quality educational and social outcomes for all students from birth to Year 12. The successful candidate will be required to travel to multiple schools across the area.
- Approval to teach students with hearing impairment from diagnosis to Year 12.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build and maintain relationships; and engage students, staff, families and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate quality, inclusive learning plans to meet the complex needs of students who are deaf and hard of hearing from the age of diagnosis across educational, community and family settings.
- Knowledge of, ability to source, and capacity to use assistive technology and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to support equitable access to the curriculum, for deaf and hard of hearing students.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
