Job overview

Windmill Primary Church of England Primary School.

Role: Teacher in Charge of a Specialist Provision for pupils with complex Communication and Interaction needs.

Salary MPS or UPS + 2 SEN points and TLR 2a

Contract type: Full Time Permanent Start Date 1st January 2018

Our successful Church of England School is looking for a passionate, committed Teacher with great enthusiasm and energy to join our team and lead the implementation of a brand new specialist provision for children with complex communication and interaction needs. The provision will have 12 transitional places for KS1 and KS2 children as well as providing outreach for primary schools in Kirklees. Opportunities like this are rare, you will work alongside our SLT to establish a unit that we hope will not only provide a first class provision for pupils but also be recognised as a national centre of excellence.

Our school opened in April 2014 and has gone from strength to strength since that time. In November 2016 we were judged as ‘OUTSTANDING’ in a SIAMs inspection and in May 2017 as ‘good’ with outstanding Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare. We pride ourselves on fostering a welcoming, supportive and nurturing learning environment where all members of the school community work hard to achieve their goals.

This role will involve organising, delivering and evaluating learning for children with complex communication and interaction needs. In the initial stages, you will work alongside the local authority and leadership team of our school to build your team and design every aspect of the provision. The role will include leading an outreach team to support pupils with communication and interaction in other mainstream schools as well as develop Windmill CE Primary School as a centre of excellence for transitional places for children with the most complex needs.

This role will involve close liaison with the Strand Lead for communication and interaction needs. It will also involve working with head teachers, SENCOs, class teachers and support staff in a range of mainstream schools.

Our school is well placed for applicants from across West Yorkshire, we are situated very close to Junction 27 of the M62, close to Birstall retail park.

Visits to the school are encouraged; please contact our School Business support officer, Emma Turnbull, in the School office (01924 470555) to book a time. If you want to know more about us, have a look at our website: www.windmillcofeprimary.co.uk

Deadline for applications: Noon, Friday October 13th 2017

Interviews will be held on 19th October 2017

Applications can either be posted to the School directly or e-mailed to the Headteacher; tim.scargill@kirkleeseducation.uk

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff will be subject to a Criminal Record Check via the DBS.
