Responsible for the development, co-ordination and implementation of the Resistant Materials curriculum at Key Stage 3 and 4 within the College, ensuring that an attractive, relevant and demanding course is offered to our boys and girls. This will include: 

 • Updating and maintaining the schemes of work, keeping the courses under constant review;

 • Developing aspects of the course, including worksheets and other resources, ensuring that all such materials are clearly identified, available and integrated within the schemes of work;

• Supplying appropriate information for option booklets and providing appropriate advice;

• Monitoring the effectiveness of the course for the whole ability range and ensuring that it facilitates appropriate differentiation;

• Having overall supervision of tests/assessments and the co-ordination of grades; 

• Being responsible for Resistant Materials at Open mornings; 

• Organising extra-curricular activities including trips, enrichment activities;  

• Attendance at weekly Heads of Department meetings;

• Conducting the appraisal process for the Design Technology Technician Instructor; 

• Ensuring that a budget is drawn up for presentation to the Deputy Head;  

• Regular liaison with support staff such as the librarian and Academic Support  Co-ordinator;   

The person in charge of Resistant Materials is responsible to the Deputy Head Academic.
