Values and vision

Calderside Academy, through effective learning and teaching, wishes to ensure that pupils achieve their true potential. To further support this aim, the school offers informal and formal forms of study support. The school offers an informal arrangement whereby members of the teaching staff make themselves available, at break times and lunchtimes, to pupils who require support or assistance with classwork or homework. It also gives the students the opportunity to formally attend whole school study support provision. All departments are involved in this activity, which takes place after school. Pupils are invited to register an interest in attending study support sessions over a two-week period and this support is usually offered prior to preliminary exams.

Education Scotland

“The school has a very positive and caring ethos. Across the school, almost all young people are motivated, confident and enjoy their learning. Most young people feel that they are treated fairly and respectfully and almost all are confident that they will receive help when it is needed. In most lessons, young people have a clear understanding of the purpose of their learning.”
