The academy is committed to brilliance and constantly strives for improvement.

The successful candidate will teach Hairdressing to full classes of students at KS4 in our professionally equipped salon.   There are smaller groups at level three.  Students work towards recognised industry qualifications, typically VTCT level 2.

Teachers who have a professional hairdressing background are particularly welcome.  You must hold a Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training  (formerly DTLLS) and subsequent QTLS or full PGCE resulting in QTLS or QTS.

We take the continuing professional development of staff very seriously.  Colleagues with leadership aspirations are nurtured through an extensive CPD programme offered through our partnership with Forest Way Teaching School Alliance.

A passion for your subject and the ability to share this with students.

The ability to motive and enthuse students to achieve excellent results

Principal

Jenny Byrne

Values and vision

King Edward VII Science and Sport College aims to prepare its students for later life, and strives to offer a curriculum that encompasses both academic and practical courses. Teachers ensure their students have the support they need to succeed. With one-on-one mentoring, revision sessions and extracurricular activities such as charity fundraising, overseas trips, drama and music, students are able to hone their skills in a range of areas. Professional work placements are also considered important to the curriculum and development of students.

Sport and science are at the core of the academy, but teachers work hard to enable students to succeed academically in a range of subjects. Alternative courses are available for students who struggle with the standard school curriculum. Additional support is available for reading, writing, communication and maths, from computer-based programmes for reading to online numeracy programmes.

Ofsted report
