Job overview

You will have an interest or experience in teaching a BTEC course in one of the following; Travel and Tourism, Childcare, Land Based Studies, Construction, Health and Social Care or Angling. You will also be confident in teaching Literacy and Numeracy in small groups and one to one.

The Quay School is a progressive educational establishment that supports young people through difficult times in their lives. Our different sites provide for very different needs and we are currently looking to employ a teacher to work at our Harbourside base. The students at this base have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream school and have behaviour, emotional and social issues.

The Quay School takes great care to recruit the very best people so that the services we provide are first class. We believe that the best work gets done in an environment that's enjoyable and which values, supports and encourages the development of its employees. In return we expect our employees to work hard and be committed to help us achieve our vision and share our values.

We are looking for a teacher with a particular interest in teaching students who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from main stream education.

The successful applicant will be a highly motivated and flexible individual who can form positive relationships with students with a wide range of special needs, including behavioural, in order to make a difference for some of the most vulnerable adolescents across Poole. Previous experience of working with students with behavioural difficulties is desirable.

This is not for the faint hearted but incredibly rewarding! NQTs and experienced teachers welcome to apply.

As a national teaching school we are able to provide high quality professional development opportunities for all staff.

Visits to the school are welcomed, please contact Vicki Glasgow (Assistant Head Teacher) on 01202 674205 to arrange an appointment.

Application packs can be obtained on the Borough of Poole website and applications can be submitted online.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share the same commitment. Please ensure a full work history is completed in your application form including any gaps of employment. Applicants to this post will be required to complete a Disclosure & Barring Service Check.

Closing date: 19th June 2016
