South Dartmoor Community College is seeking to appoint a highly organised, enthusiastic, inspirational and resilient Teacher to become part of the
ell respected SEND team. The successful candidate will work closely with the school SENDCo in leading the day to day SEND provision across the school. They will also take the lead role in the Communication and Interaction Resource Base (CAIRB). The CAIRB is a 0-25 provision for students with Communication and Interaction needs, all of whom are Autistic. They will have experience of working with children with Autism and an awareness of the challenges these students face within a mainstream environment, in addition to a comprehensive understanding of whole school SEND needs and provision. They should be capable of developing excellent relationships with the students and therefore a proven record of successfully working with young people is essential. They will be a hard-working individual; with high expectations and an unwavering determination to get the best outcomes for students.
The College is on a rapid improvement journey and has a strong staff team in place to ensure every child is enabled to fulfil their potential. We have excellent pastoral support and our students report that they feel very happy and safe at the school. We are proud of our students. The relationships between staff and students are strong. Community engagement is also an important feature; we have an active Parent/Teacher Association (FOSDA—Friends of South Dartmoor Academy).
