Position Information 

Barham High School is a small comprehensive secondary school located in the South–West of the Riverina on the Murray River. The school is host to approximately 150 students who come from a number of feeder schools both in New South Wales and Victoria who have a diverse range of interests and  abilities.

The school has a dedicated staff that has a diverse cross–section of beginning and highly experienced teachers.

Barham High School has a Muti-Categorical Support Class to assist students in accessing the curriculum and is well resourced with over 350 devices to support student learning, recently refurbished science laboratories and timber/metal workshop.

The LaST position at Barham High School will be responsible for assisting the teaching staff in identifying, assessing, supporting and monitoring student progress. They will assist staff in identifying strategies to make modifications and adjustment to work as well as supporting students within the MC class.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 
  1. Approval to teach students with learning and support needs (secondary) and/or experience teaching students with learning and support needs (secondary) in regular classes. Capacity to provide specialist assistance to students in regular classes with additional learning and support needs and their teachers with a range of support needs related to autism, intellectual disability, emotional and complex challenging behaviours.
  2. Capacity to provide specialist assistance to students in regular classes with additional learning and support needs.
  3. Highly developed communication and organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and  parents to promote a positive school culture.
  4. Proven expertise in developing, implementing and evaluating individualised learning, support and well being plans, in partnership with  staff, students, and families.
  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
