  • £24,759 - £26,250 per annum (Unqualified)
  • £27,035 - £31,332 per annum (Qualified)

About the department:

Our Science department offers a good range of courses including A levels in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, as well as BTEC Diplomas in Applied Science at levels two and three; Access to HE Science and Healthcare Pathways and evening classes in GCSE Biology. There is also a newly introduced HNC in Biology. 

Our Science staff benefit from the recently refurbished and well-equipped laboratory suite on the 4th floor of our Radcliffe building, giving spectacular views over Wakefield. Three Science technicians provide excellent technical support, advice and guidance.   

You would be joining a team of highly committed A level teachers in a positive and supportive environment where staff enjoy a good sense of camaraderie and have high expectations of themselves and their students. There are central resources shared by all.


About the role: 

As a Lecturer in Biology, you would contribute to the provision of an excellent learner experience to students studying Applied Science, Access to Science and GCSE Biology as well as taking the role of a personal tutor to a group of about 20 science students. 


What we’re looking for: 

We are looking for an outstanding and enthusiastic professional who can motivate and enthuse students to ensure they reach their full potential. You will be a good team player who is happy to participate in departmental events and introduce new ideas to contribute to the ongoing development of the department.

You should hold a degree in Biology or Biochemistry and demonstrate a track record of good success rates in teaching and learning and an up-to-date knowledge of the relevant curriculum.
