Position Information 

Girraween High School (755 students, 17% from an EAL/D background at the level of Consolidating) is a fully academically selective, co-educational high school located in Western Sydney.  The GHS community has a Family Occupation and Education Index (FOEI) value of 4.  Generally, 100% of Year 12 graduates will undertake tertiary study at University.

Student wellbeing and academic excellence are fostered through programs including student mentoring and our RAW (Resilience, Achievement and Wellbeing) Model of Positive EducationThe RAW Model  is centred upon strategies for students to deal with challenging situations, enhancing positive emotions and accomplishing new skills through effort. 

Teaching and learning is geared towards high expectations of student academic achievement and supporting high potential learners in reaching academic success. Student and staff leadership opportunities are promoted in a supportive environment. Our Core Values: Aspire, Respect and Unite feature strongly within our school community. Specific Selection Criteria 
  1. Approval to teach Secondary library or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education

  2. Knowledge and experience in the operating systems of a school library to effectively provide a positive student learning centre.

  3. Expertise in developing information literacy skills for students relevant to the Stages of learning.

  4. Demonstrated capacity to implement and lead whole school literacy programs to support school Reading and Writing targets. 

  5. Demonstrated capacity to lead future focused learning strategies across the school.

  6. Experience in supporting curriculum delivery across a range of KLAs including promoting academic texts and digital resources. 

 
  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
