Position Information 

Toormina High School is a comprehensive co-educational high school that includes a special education support unit. The school has an enrolment of 800 students including 17% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and 3% language background other than English. The school is situated on the mid-north coast of New South Wales 8 kilometres south of Coffs Harbour. The school collaborates within the Bongil Bongil Community of school (BBCoS) comprising several partner primary schools located within Sawtell, Toormina, Boambee, Bonville and Crossmaglen. A highly skilled and dedicated staff provide a wide range of learning and extra - curricular opportunities for students. The key focus of our 2021 – 2024 SIP is improving Literacy and Numeracy outcomes for all students. The Mathematics Department is trialling Maths Pathways as part of our SIP initiatives. We have an involved P&C and strong ties to our local Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities.

Specific Selection Criteria 

Approval to teach Mathematics (Years 7-10) and Mathematics (Years 11-12).

Demonstrated capacity to use evidence-based classroom practice and behaviour management that fosters a culture of high expectations.

Highly developed interpersonal, communication and organisational skills with the proven ability to build positive relationships with faculty members, students, parents and community.

Capacity to enhance learning outcomes, including a focus on numeracy, by promoting the development of learning that inspires students’ interest in Mathematics

Demonstrated capacity in effective classroom practice, including fostering a culture of high expectations that caters for students with a diverse range of learning needs from a diverse range of backgrounds.

  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
