Job overview

Hexham Middle School

Wanless Lane, Hexham  NE46 1BU

TEACHER , MATHEMATICS

Required from 1 September 2020

Main Scale, Fixed Term until 31 August 2021, full time contract.

We are seeking an inspirational and dynamic maths teacher from the Middle or Secondary sectors to make a significant contribution to this very important curriculum area across Key Stages 2 and 3.  Applications from NQTs or experienced teachers are very welcome. Hexham Middle School is situated in one of the designated local authority areas (Northumberland) where teachers may be eligible for the proposed mathematics teacher retention payments.

Whilst this position is primarily based at our middle school site, with the co-location of the two schools a possibility in the near future, there would be potential for this teacher to work across both schools in the trust.

We are a large and flourishing middle school set on a stunning site in the historical market town of Hexham and part of a Multi Academy Trust with Queen Elizabeth High School.   We cherish the strong partnerships that exist between pupils, parents and the local community making this a successful, friendly and welcoming school.  Pupils at Hexham Middle School have an eagerness to learn and achieve very well academically.  We also place a high value on our activity programme beyond the classroom and are proud of the many and varied enriching activities that form part of our provision.

We welcome applications from teachers who can demonstrate the commitment and ability to:

 Ensure that all pupils achieve their full potential

 Inspire pupils in mathematics

 Be creative in approaches to teaching and learning

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment.  The successful applicant will be required to obtain a satisfactory Certificate of Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Application forms can be found via our school website.  Please submit a completed application form, covering letter and declaration form to rstokes@qehs.net.

If you wish to speak to someone regarding the vacancy please contact Rachael Stokes, HR Assistant on 01434 610362.

Closing Date for applications: 3:00 pm on Wednesday 10 June 2020.

We reserve the right to withdraw an advert at any time should it be deemed necessary by the Trust.

Ofsted Report

“The executive headteacher, ably supported by the head of school, senior team and governing body, is determined to make the school the very best it can be. The school continues to improve at a pace. Currently, from their different starting points, pupils make good progress in most subjects, including English and mathematics. Extra-curricular activities are given a high priority, as leaders say that ‘arts, sport and other opportunities help shape pupils as individuals and as citizens of the wider world’.”
