Dalry Secondary School is a unique small school situated in St John’s town of Dalry with a unique ethos that provides a highly personal education experience. Castle Douglas High School is situated in the ‘food town’ of Castle Douglas and is a very popular and successful secondary school.
A vacancy has arisen for an enthusiastic Teacher of Music based at Dalry Secondary School. The successful candidate may also have the opportunity to teach in Castle Douglas High School.
You will be committed to excellence and able to provide high quality learning and teaching as well as demonstrating total, enthusiastic commitment to the wellbeing of pupils and their educational, social and personal development.
Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland, Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector and subject.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.

Castle Douglas High School is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form situated in the town of Castle Douglas within Dumfries and Galloway, in western Scotland. It is a state school. Smaller than average in size for a school of its type, the school’s latest handbook identifies a school roll of 415 secondary and sixth form students between the ages of 12-18.
The school was built in 1958 and has since gone under a number of renovations. It became part of the Scottish Government’s School of Ambition programme in 2006.
