Position Information 

Tempe High School has an enrolment of 960 students. 67% of students are from non English Speaking background and 3% identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. We are a comprehensive, partially selective, multicultural high school, highly valued and supported by our community. Enhancing the wellbeing of all students to build resilience and respond thoughtfully to change has become a key feature of our school vision. Our extracurricular music ensembles are an integral part of showcasing the high potential of Tempe High School students and include the following: wind, choir, ukulele, rock and jazz. Creative experimentation with technology in music is an essential component in building our students' capacity in the Creative Arts.

Specific Selection Criteria 

Approval to teach music in Stage 4, Stage 5 and Stage 6, and a willingness to teach Music Extension 1 and 2, as well as an interest in promoting individual, ensemble instrumental, choral and vocal music in the school. 

  • Proven capacity to work collaboratively both within the CAPA faculty and across the school to maximise learning outcomes for students with diverse learning needs. 
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively implement technology in the classroom, using modern and innovative practices, with a focus on improving teaching and learning. 
  • Ability to promote and run band programs as well as identify and manage maintenance of musical instruments and technology. 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
