Job overview

We are looking for an outstanding teacher of A-level Chemistry. An ability to teach L3 BTEC Science and/or GCSE Science / L2 BTEC Science would be an advantage.  As a 16-19 Sixth Form College we can offer an exciting opportunity to specialise in Post 16 delivery of this popular subject in a growing department.  The college is part of Inspire Trust, which also includes Oakwood High School and Sitwell Junior School.

Thomas Rotherham College provides high quality A-level, Level 3 Applied General and Level 2 courses to over 1400 students.  Chemistry is part of the Science Faculty alongside Biology, Physics BTEC Science and GCSE Science and there was a 100% pass rate for Chemistry last year.  Chemistry is a popular subject and as a result, we are anticipating at least 8 groups of A-level Chemistry next year.

The successful candidate will be dedicated to supporting all students that they teach.  They will have high expectations and a growth mindset for students and for themselves. Candidates will be able to demonstrate experience of getting the best out of students, both in lessons and through the setting of challenging and engaging independent study.

The position represents a fantastic opportunity to specialise in a welcoming and supportive Post 16 environment.  As a college, we are committed to continuous professional development and as a new member of staff you will receive a comprehensive programme of induction to the college, regular internal and/or external training opportunities and support from the Head of Faculty and Assistant Heads of Faculty.
