Solihull Academy is an alternative provision where we provide alternative solutions for a number of students for whom mainstream education is simply not working (for a range of reasons). In our short lifetime thus far we have grown considerably and continue to grow as our provision evolves. We now consist of our main site and provision for year 9-11, The Mercury Centre, The Saturn Centre and The Pathfinder Centre (Year 7-8), and we welcomed Daylesford Academy to the SAPMAT from September 2022.

As we have expanded we have continued to recruit committed, passionate and talented staff who ensure a full range of interventions to help change the outcomes of and life chances for our students for the better.

The Academy ensures all students across the Local Authority have access to a high-quality alternative educational provision

The Academy provides a safe, well-ordered, caring and highly supportive learning environment that will deliver high-quality education to students who need a more closely-focused learning solution. The use of outstanding, inspiring teaching and clear, consistent guidance and support will play a pivotal role in helping each child fulfil their maximum potential for growth, self-worth, and self-control. Our students will benefit from small class sizes where an emphasis will be placed on a personalised approach to learning.

We are seeking to recruit an effective, creative and passionate Teacher of Alternative Provision to help drive forward relatoral teaching and pastoral support and have a real impact on our students. Your role will be to raise student achievement, encourage a love of learning, promote sport and fitness and champion mental health.

The suitable candidate for this essential position will be:

  • A qualified teacher able to teach subjects to KS3 and 4
  • Able to provide alternative strategies in their teaching designed to motivate, encourage and enthuse pupils
  • Keen to forge positive relationships with challenging pupils
  • An excellent, experienced practitioner with a proven record of good results and impact in students of all abilities
  • Passionate about realising the potential of all children within a multi-cultural and inclusive school
  • Committed to maintaining and nurturing our ethos where all pupils can feel equally valued for their culture and contributions.

This is an opportunity for an ambitious and energetic teacher:

  • To take a full and active role in the development, expansion and life of the Academy Trust including pastoral duties.
  • To inspire and intervene with students who need a fresh start and new approach to reach their potential.

The Academy leadership team is determined to give our students the best opportunities possible to become successful, responsible citizens with the best life chances. This is another critical appointment for the School, and is an exciting opportunity for you to work in an aspirational, therapeutic and innovative environment with students who need you.

You will be joining an effective team of staff that have good personal and organisational skills. You must be able to communicate effectively with staff, parents/carers and pupils.

The Senior Leadership Team have an ‘open door’ policy designed to support and motivate in a challenging working environment. We welcome applications from excellent practitioners who love teaching and get satisfaction from making a difference.

Solihull Alternative Provision Multi Academy Trust exists because we have a commitment and passion for providing the best alternative provision to enable the educational futures and improve the life chances for every student who comes to us. We consider that a locally-led and accountable Trust focused on alternative provision provides the best outcomes for learners in danger of “falling through the cracks”. Our mission, across the Trust, is to:

  • Prevent Permanent Exclusion (and/or providing a pathway back from it)
  • Use more targeted intervention and relational teaching and therefore Fewer Fixed Term Exclusions (Suspensions)
  • Enable our students to beat their Baseline and KS2 targets

By doing this we are, most importantly, able to ensure there are No NEETS in our leavers.  Ensuring these positive destinations and outcomes of education, employment and/or training  for the most vulnerable, most disadvantaged  and highest-tariff children in the area is our clear focus and external partnerships, particularly with local employers/business are hugely important to enable us to continue hitting the targets for our students as we expand.

Our Trust is currently comprised of two schools; Solihull Alternative Provision Academy and Daylesford Academy, across three sites and we will be welcoming a third academy and three more sites in 2024.
