Harlaw Academy is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form situated in the centre of Aberdeen. It is a community state school. The latest Harlaw Academy inspection from Education Scotland identifies a school roll of 820 secondary and sixth form students between the ages of 12-18.

The school was first founded in 1874 as Aberdeen High School for Girls, a school that was influential in terms of education for women in North East Scotland at a time before women had the vote. It moved site when the school under its current name was founded in 1893, a school that would become co-educational. Past students congregate at the official school former pupils club.
