"Education is about instilling values and creating dreams"

"We believe that all our students can do amazing things with their lives, whatever their background, whatever their abilities and aptitudes, wherever they start from."

Good schools go beyond a commitment to academic excellence; they aim to educate the whole person producing a fully rounded individual. At Haberdashers' Abraham Darby we endorse that aim in the knowledge that if we provide a good quality academic education, take a close interest in each individual and provide an extensive and challenging array of extra-curricular activity to appeal to all tastes then we will produce a well rounded person able and keen to fulfil their potential in all aspects of life.

Our educational philosophy is one of "enlightened traditionalism". We fully embrace traditional objectives with the emphasis on the pursuit of excellence in a warm and caring but disciplined community.

We also believe however that the preparation of young people to play a useful and leading role in the 21st Century goes beyond this. We aim to stimulate, motivate and cultivate intellectual curiosity, develop our students' awareness and understanding as well as their communication skills. We want them to be good citizens as well as good companions and to have fun. We encourage and expect high standards of behaviour and presentation and nurture strong spiritual values in all our students. We believe that all young people will respond to challenge as long as that challenge is relevant to their individual needs and aspirations. So we aim to develop a curriculum that meets the needs, sparks the imagination and brings the best out of each individual student according to his/her ambition, aspirations, ability, interests and learning styles.

We offer a very supportive environment for all newly appointed staff, including newly qualified teachers and promoted roles.

Do look through the information outlined on the website which offers an insight into the Academy and will hopefully whet your appetite. Being a member of the Habderdashers' family of school is something very special - not only for our students but also for our staff.

If you share our aspirations we invite you to come and visit our Academy, meet our students and experience for yourself the special ethos of the Haberdashers' Abraham Darby. We look forward to welcoming you.
