Job overview

Canons High School is a vibrant and dynamic multicultural school community in Edgware, NW London. Our school is renowned for being one in which people matter. Relationships are strong, opportunities for progression are many and the personal and professional development of adults and children is at the heart of what we do.

At Canons, we pride ourselves on the training and development of all our staff so that students are taught effectively and supported within and beyond the classroom to the highest levels. School leaders at all levels are well-equipped to use their professional judgment and a wide range of information to challenge and engage all students to achieve success, identify underachievement, act upon it and help students get back on track. We offer a well-balanced three year KS3 programme that enables students to enjoy success in their GCSE exams, which begin in Year 10.

The Creative, Performance and Media Arts faculty is comprised of Art, Drama, Media Studies and Photography, all of which are popular choices for students for both GCSE and A level. Students enjoy their time in the Creative Arts and we have high standards, both in our teaching and outcomes for students, and students achieve excellent results. We run groups in both GCSE Art & Design and GCSE Photography every year and have a fully equipped photo editing suite of computers. GCSE Art & Photography complete the AQA specification.

A big part of department is the extra-curricular programme. Each year we run a school musical which a large number of Creative Arts students are involved in. Previous musicals have included Little Shop of Horrors, Bugsy Malone and Fame. We also run Media, Drama, Art and Photography clubs and competitions.

Alongside the opportunities for students there are opportunities for teaching staff to develop their careers in an exciting and innovative department.
