Salford City Academy wish to appoint a creative, dynamic and determined individual on a full-time basis from September 2020 to join our Art and Photography Department. 

The successful candidate will bring their expertise and innovative skills to enhance the art and design activities at Salford City Academy. In addition, they will also be an enthusiastic contributor to the wider life of the School.

This is a hugely exciting time to join Salford City Academy. The Academy has undergone a huge transformation and achieved its best-ever results in August 2019.

We are looking for a teacher who is passionate about their subject and who can deliver exciting lessons and projects to engage and enthuse our students. Art is a very important element of the school’s curriculum. The department is equipped with two specialist studios and supported by a part-time technician.


About the Role


•We are looking for an outstanding Art Teacher to join our team in September 2020.

•The successful candidate will have:

•Proven experience of teaching Art at KS3 – KS4.

•The ability to share your outstanding practice and develop other colleagues

•A creative and enthusiastic approach both in and out of the classroom

•Excellent IT and interpersonal communication skills to work closely with students and parents

Salford City Academy


Salford City Academy is a medium sized comprehensive Academy that lies in the heart of its community, we are very proud of our collective achievements.  Everyone feels proud that we are improving the life chances of all our students.


The Academy is based in Eccles, Manchester, just off Junction 11 of the M60 – Manchester’s ring road. It serves a predominantly white working class population and the proportion of students eligible for student premium funding is above national average. The proportion of students with special educational needs is in line with national average.


We are a rapidly improving Academy and we are part of the United Learning Muti-Academy trust. In August 2019, our students achieved the best ever GCSE results, attendance was above national standards, behaviour improved and we had introduced our ‘Aspire Curriculum’.  Our staff are ambitious for all students, they work hard and strive to provide a wide range of extra-curricular and career opportunities for our students. The leadership team are supportive, dynamic and have led staff and students effectively to create a positive inspiring learning culture.


Within SCA, we embrace collaborative partnerships with all schools within United learning, and we are excited to be part of the ‘Salford Cluster’ which incorporates 3 other secondary Academies and 2 primary schools. In September 2015 the Academy was judged as a ‘Good’ school. Ofsted reported that:


•Students’ behaviour and attitude to learning is good. The academy provides well-structured care and support and is exemplary in its approach to keeping students safe.

•The Academy equips students to be thoughtful, caring and active citizens in the Academy and wider society. Strong spiritual, moral and cultural development permeates through the Academy.

•The Academy safeguarding procedures are exemplary.

•The use of secure and shrewd student targets is distilled and displayed across the Academy.


In April 2017, Melanie Haselden was appointed as Principal and joined a team of ambitious senior leaders. A newly appointed Senior leadership team has an ambition is to secure the Academy as a centre of outstanding teaching and learning where staff and students are fully supported and developed to achieve the best they can. We want to appoint a Teacher of Art and Photography  who has the vision, capabilities and confidence to realise this ambition and who is a confident team player with excellent communication and creative ideas.
