Job overview

Steyning Grammar School is a unique comprehensive school, with 2250+ students on roll (425+ are in the Sixth Form College), set in the beautiful South Downs countryside.  The campus currently spreads across three sites: Shooting Field, Steyning (KS4-5), The Towers, Upper Beeding (KS3) and Rock Road, Storrington (KS3).  We are a day and residential school, with a boarding provision based in Steyning and a thriving Sixth Form College based at the Shooting Field campus.

Steyning Grammar School is part of Bohunt Education Trust (BET), which comprises eight schools: Bohunt School in Liphook, which opened the Trust’s first sixth form in 2017, Priory School in Portsmouth, The Petersfield School (TPS), Bohunt School Worthing, Bohunt School Wokingham, The Costello School in Basingstoke and Bohunt Horsham, which is the Trust’s first all-through school, and which opened in 2019. In 2020, Steyning Grammar School – one of only 34 UK state boarding schools – joined the BET family. BET also provides school improvement support to City Academy Norwich (CAN).

Our staff are impressive and inspirational practitioners and leaders, with a strong team ethic. Many travel into school from Brighton and Hove and surrounding towns, with a culture of informal car-shares where needed. Our students are fantastic – polite, confident and eager to learn, preparing for their exciting futures. Ofsted (March 2017) rated our school ‘Good with Outstanding features’; quoting us as having “an aspirational culture” where “teachers have high expectations and design stimulating lessons”.

Ofsted (2018) rated our Boarding provision ‘Outstanding’ stating, “Student welfare is the beating heart of the school” where “students make exceptional progress. They develop social and independent skills as well as academic success”.

If you would relish the opportunity of working with us in our supportive and stimulating professional environment, then we would love to hear from you.
