Part time Teacher of Art and Textiles

The teaching of Art is highly valued at Caterham School. We know that it promotes creativity, encourages self-expression and contributes significantly to the intellectual and imaginative development of our pupils. Our teachers are all artists in their own right and we are now looking for a talented and experienced teacher of Art and Textiles.

As you would expect of one of the UK’s leading co-educational day and boarding schools, Caterham School has well equipped studios and workshops. In addition to being used for general Art & Design teaching, they each support a specialism such as Textiles, Print, Photography or Ceramics, with both Photography and Textiles design being offered at A Level. We also have our own gallery, access to the expertise and facilities within the 3D Design Department and regular workshops led by visiting photographers, textile artists, sculptors and painters amongst others. We also have regular teacher-led gallery visits and hold an overseas trip with our sixth formers. The result is a vibrant and evolving environment in which to teach, engage and inspire our pupils.

Dynamic and well-qualified, you will be an experienced teacher with a real enthusiasm for the subject and a successful record of teaching to A Level. Excellent communication skills are essential, and your innovative approach to teaching will be supported by a strong commitment to high standards. As you will be joining a school with a real sense of community, you should also be able and willing to contribute to the wider range of co-curricular activities available to our pupils.

Along with attractive rewards, you will enjoy an exceptional working environment. Caterham School is well placed for access to town and country: the beautiful two hundred acre site is five minutes’ drive from Junction 6 of the M25, twenty minutes’ drive from Gatwick and a short walk from the local station, with several trains an hour into London.

Please visit the vacancies page of our website www.caterhamschool.co.uk for further information and an application form.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
