Job overview

Bohunt Horsham is a brand new, all-through school in Horsham. The school opened in temporary accommodation in September 2019 and will move to a state of the art, purpose built school in 2021. We opened the school with a year 7 cohort of 120 and are already operating a waiting list.

We are a growing school and are seeking an excellent Teacher of Art for September 2020. Come and join the Communications department where we engage and challenge our enthusiastic and dedicated students with a dynamic curriculum. We are looking for innovation, creativity and a passion for your subject.

Our ethos is simple: enjoy, respect, achieve. Above all we value a love of learning and actively promote the characteristics that make lifelong learners such as curiosity, hard work, critical thinking and a thirst for knowledge. We champion values that will ensure our learners make the world a better place including empathy, tolerance and kindness. Our students are empowered and supported which enables them to build the  life skills such as resilience, confidence and courage, which will help them to overcome obstacles that may stand in the way of achieving their potential.

What is different about us?

As a member of our founding staff team you will benefit from the support of our school and Trust leadership and will be well placed for a range of forthcoming career opportunities.

We are proud to be part of the Bohunt Education Trust. BET’s approach to teaching and learning is innovative and immersive – a rich blend of the latest education thinking, technology and practice both in and outside the classroom.

We are a close knit team and we place a very high value on the development of our staff; Wednesday afternoons at Bohunt Horsham are dedicated to collaboration and professional progression for teachers whilst our students participate in our co-curricular offer.

As an all-through school we will offer unparalleled opportunities to work on curriculum across the key stages, looking at child development within your subject as a whole.

As a school we set the highest expectations for ourselves and our students and this is reflected in the positive and productive atmosphere in school and in the experiences of our pupils.

The temporary school in Hurst Road is well-equipped with fully refurbished classrooms each using the latest equipment such as SMART TV boards. Our 1:2:1 iPad scheme enables teachers to bring learning to life and engage our learners.

Where possible it is our intention to observe shortlisted applicants teach at their current school, at a time convenient to them, with a group of their choosing.

We are committed to seeing candidates teach in their current schools rather than inviting them to teach at Bohunt Horsham for a range of reasons, primarily:

A less stressful experience for candidates.

A more accurate portrayal of candidate’s teaching approach over time.

Less disruption to learning for students at both schools.

We are holding an open morning for potential applicants on Saturday February 29th, from 9am - 12pm our temporary school will be open for you to tour and members of our staff, student and parent communities will be on hand to answer your questions. We will also have a presentation on our amazing new school currently under construction. If you are unable to make this date we also welcome visits from potential applicants at any other time; please contact us to arrange a tour at your convenience. To arrange a tour, for more information about Bohunt Horsham or the role please email  recruitment@bohunthorsham.com.

Application Deadline: this post will remain open until we find the right candidate.

BET is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Employment is subject to a satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

We are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.

As a Trust, we are happy to discuss flexible working opportunities.

We anticipate a high level of interest in this role and we reserve the right to withdraw this vacancy at any time ahead of the closing date if there is a good level of response. Therefore, we recommend that you submit your application as early as possible.

Please be advised that references may be requested upon receipt of your application. Please state if you wish this to be delayed until shortlisting/interviews have taken place.
