About the Role

The Art, Design and Technology Department’s has a clear vision centred around solving problems through innovation. Students analyse design briefs in order to understand the social, environmental and health factors related to the context. By mastering a broad range of practical and digital skills, students understand how products are made and the importance of processes that underpins them. 

The faculty includes a number of subject specialists and we have three popular GCSE options;

·        DT textiles,

·        DT food and nutrition

·        Art and Design and Graphics

Our subjects have a track record of strong outcomes, and lead to course at Key Stage 5. This includes A level Fine Art and BTEC Level 3 in Art and Design.

Key Stage 3 textiles and food are taught on a carousel, with one full term allocated to each subject. We are looking for a candidate with experience in delivering Food and Nutrition and an individual who is looking to work as part of a dynamic and ambitious team.

Applicants will be have the benefit of professional development opportunities, such as working across the Trust in our subject specific teacher networks, and developing curriculum projects in conjunction with our excellent partnerships at the Culture Mile. An annual activities week alongside a robust enrichment programme provides many opportunities for creating and developing extracurricular projects.

City of London Academy Highbury Grove is based in the heart of Islington. We have created an excellent academy with high levels of achievement and self-discipline, and a curriculum designed to help students achieve the best personal and academic standards.
