We are seeking to appoint a full-time Art teacher to join our highly successful department to commence in August 2019. The department aims to provide an excellent learning environment for our students. Lessons are designed to foster creativity, visual literacy and problem-solving skills.

We have five full time Art teachers, one technician and a full time ancillary working in the area. We are looking for a teacher from any Art discipline but strengths in painting, printmaking and/or Ceramics would complement the existing team.

The department is very well-resourced with five studios, a clay preparation area, breakout space and garden. All students have a lap top with the Adobe suite and other appropriate software. Hong Kong is a rich and vibrant city and provides an extensive resource for our students.

Art is a compulsory subject in Years 7 to 9 where we have recently introduced the IBO’s Middle Years Programme in which an inquiry-based approach to learning is key. Students can opt to take GCSE in Years 10-11. In Years 12-13 we offer the IB Diploma Visual Arts course, as well as a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design. Each year, a significant number of KGV students continue their studies at some of the world’s leading art, architecture and design colleges.

We are keen to appoint someone who can contribute to the ongoing development of the department and be able to collaborate to support inter-disciplinary learning within the Creativity Learning area and also more widely across the school.
