Job overview

We are looking for a positive, creative and emotionally intelligent Art teacher to join us in our Faculty of Art for a temporary maternity contract for the academic year 2018-2019. Based on predicted student enrolments the post will be for a 0.454 fte.

We offer A-Level Art with EDUQAS and also provide students with an internal progression opportunity via the Art Foundation. If successful, you will be joining a faculty, which is supportive, collaborative and high performing. Leaders and teachers are truly passionate about supporting students but also work with a sense of humour. We also offer A-Level Photography. The two teams often collaborate with ‘lessons swaps’, trips and access to guest speakers.

Students in Art consistently gain grades that are above national benchmarks within the already high performing sixth form college sector. Art is well-resourced in terms of space, equipment and technician support. Our students are passionate about Art and often go on to continue their studies in the creative arts with us via the aforementioned Art Foundation course or at undergraduate level at various universities.

The college is a reflective workplace where colleagues are trusted to make the key decisions for themselves. We promote a blame-free culture where mistakes are celebrated as a tool for progress towards our goal of outstanding.

This is an exciting time to be joining our Specialist Sixth Form College as we develop partnership links across the education sector

If you are positive, creative and emotionally intelligent, if you want to gain experience working in a progressive and supportive educational environment and if you would like to take advantage of our darkroom, photographic and art studios in your teaching, please apply.

If you wish to discuss this post informally please contact Chris Timothy, Director of Arts via email (cjt@kinged6nun.a.cuk) to arrange a mutually convenient telephone conversation.

King Edward VI College Nuneaton is a Sixth Form College that was established in 1974 on the site of King Edward VI Grammar School in Nuneaton. The College now has approximately 1,350 students aged 16-19 years and 130 staff and is growing yearly.

King Edward VI College Nuneaton prides itself on a friendly, personal approach and its ability to maintain a high level of success for all its students.

One of the reasons for the success of the college is that students enjoy studying here, and the proportion of students completing their courses continues to be excellent and amongst the highest in the country.

If student achievement is compared to their achievement at GCSE, calculations using official government measures of what is known as "value added" show our students to be achieving as well or better than would be expected from their starting point.

All our staff are committed to giving students the best possible learning experience in their period in college and we aim to continue in the future the successes achieved by our students.
