Art at Oxford High School

Our aim at Oxford High School is to promote the understanding and use of Art and Design as a visual language. The Art department is overseen by artist teachers whose practices are rooted in illustration, fine art, graphics and photography. We are all passionate about teaching Art, Craft and Design and engage in our own practice as a way of informing and inspiring our teaching.

The new building which is due to open in early 2020 will offer a wonderful enhancement to the art facilities of the school embracing a broad range of traditional and new media. The building will give Oxford High School a facility which will be the envy of almost all other schools in the county.

Our 2019 GCSE (87% 7-9 grade) and A level results (100% A*/A) speak volumes for both the dedication of students and staff, and the high esteem that art, is held by the school community. Teaching is across the 11-18 range through a variety of media and disciplines, including painting, drawing, printing, film and sculpture.
