A bespoke International school in The Algarve Portugal are looking for an Art teacher to teach Year 5 -13, making this an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and successful team in a wonderful country that has much to offer. 

The role: Full time role starting in September
Open to experienced teachers and NQTs Teacher: We are looking for a teacher that has a real artistic licence to thrill. 

Do you want to bring Art to life? We are looking for a creative, dynamic teacher of Art to motivate our excellent students (from Primary through to A level) and make an impact at The Academy.

As a qualified teacher, ideally you will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of teaching and experience of iGCSE & A Level with experience of submitting coursework to Edexcel. It is also essential that candidates are fluent in the English language and have experience of the implementing the British curriculum.       

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and inspirational role model for our students. The Academy is comprised of a close knit team of excellent staff members who all go above and beyond for their students. You will be expected to contribute to the team, sharing responsibilities, and promoting the subjects beyond the classroom, through extra-curricular and whole school opportunities. We offer Art as individual courses in KS2, KS3, KS4 & KS5 and our annual school productions are always well attended by the community.  

You will be an excellent communicator and confident with your subject knowledge, ideas and craft, and be someone who gets on well with colleagues, students and parents.  You will be well organised, have a good sense of humour and will want to participate fully in the extra-curricular aspects of school life as well as the classroom. You won’t be afraid of hard work and will be relentlessly focused on giving our students opportunities for success both in and beyond the classroom. Experience of developing innovative lessons and extracurricular activities would be an advantage.

The Academy was established in Almancil in 2015 to provide a happy environment which promotes a love of learning in every child.

Belief

Small class size matters

In education, if you could choose for your child to be educated in a class of 27 pupils or a class of 10 pupils, we know which option you would choose. Academic results at boarding schools are high; one of the reasons for this is the small class size. Small classes really involve students. Small classes surround students with attention and encouragement. Teachers provide this attention and encouragement as part of how they guide students' learning, but the small group fosters sharing and even a sense of teamwork as concepts are explored, discussed and worked through together.

At The Academy, our belief is that limiting the size of the class means that each student has the opportunity to focus more and accelerate their learning.

A smaller class allows our teachers to get to know your child better. Our teachers are able to provide more individual attention to your child, there are fewer distractions during the lesson, your child has the opportunity to ask more questions and the bond between teacher and student becomes stronger.

It is our belief that students really do learn more when classes are small. They learn faster. They progress through the material quicker and they also develop their confidence quicker too.
