POST 16 Experience Essential  (IB Desirable, but experienced A-level highly considered)

The Position
We are seeking to appoint a teacher of DP Biology (SL/HL) and MYP Biology and Integrated Sciences to join a developing department. Applicants must have experience of teaching upper secondary & post 16 Biology (such as IB MYP, DP, IGCSEs, A-levels, AP) and be interested in teaching Integrated Science to students across the first 3 years of secondary education.

Understanding of CAT4 and Data tracking to improve challenge and progress desirable.

Willing and able to conduct experiments with students at least fortnightly and a firm understanding of the importance of personalised learning.

Someone who is willing to commit to a longer term position. We would initially offer a 12 month contract with the view to offer permanent after this time for longevity.

The successful applicant will be a dynamic teacher with experience of enabling pupils to achieve their potential. We are looking for the right balance between experience, enthusiasm and a passion for teaching, which will inspire our students. They need to be a team player that can work with 2 other science teachers collaboratively, but also manage their own curriculum with strong leadership under pressure.

This is an opportunity to make a significant contribution to the development of our secondary school, to a successful and growing science department, in addition to teaching in the IB Diploma.

The School
The school consists of small classes, one class per grade. Our IB programmes provide each student with opportunities to explore, inquire and develop confidence as well as equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and understanding necessary for the 21st century. Our school is based in a new purpose-built facility which includes a spacious indoor gymnasium, well-designed classrooms, Drama studio, Libraries and two science labs with on-going developments of the external facilities.

Applicants must be willing to be active, flexible participants in a hard-working team of teachers. The initial contract will be fixed term for 12 months, after which there may be the possibility of converting the contract into a permanent position of employment.

Essential characteristics:

• to have a university degree in a related subject

• to have a teaching qualification / license

• to have had recent experience teaching Biology and Science within the 11-18 age range (16+ essential)

• to be able to contribute to curriculum development in DP Biology and MYP Sciences

• to be a fluent English Speaker 

•  to be an EU passport holder or already be in possession of a valid visa that enables to work in Italy.

Experience in teaching the IB MYP or DP would also be beneficial, although not essential as official IB training will be offered.
