Teacher of Biology

1 x Fulltime (1.0) Permanent position

SFC Teacher’s Pay Scale

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of a successful team at one of the country’s top sixth form colleges. Hereford Sixth Form College has over 2100 full-time 16-19 students and an excellent reputation for its results and extra-curricular provision.  Rated Ofsted outstanding in 2007; the College consistently achieves one of the highest Advanced Level points scores per entry of over 100 SFC’s nationally and has outstanding value added results as measured by both the ALIS and ALPS systems.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward thinking Teacher of Biology to join our Department and add to the College’s continuing success. This post would be suitable for an experienced teacher or a newly qualified teacher looking for a supportive environment in which to develop their teaching skills.

Biology is a very popular and successful subject with students consistently achieving outstanding results at A Level, both raw and value-added. The Eduqas specification is taught at A-level and the AQA specification for GCSE. In the last OFSTED inspection, the Science area was awarded a Grade 1 and described as ‘outstanding’.

The person appointed will be expected to help maintain this record of high achievement as well as demonstrating an enthusiastic commitment to ensuring students enjoy the subject. All members of the Department work as a team to provide the best learning environment for the students.  Emphasis is placed on staff supporting each other and sharing good working practice. Biology teachers play a full part in the support and guidance structure of the College, principally acting as personal tutors.  The successful candidate will be expected to participate in this important aspect of College life.
