Teacher of Biology (Maternity Cover)

The City of Stoke on Trent Sixth Form College is a thriving, lively and successful Sixth Form College, committed to social inclusion.  The College is located in an award-winning, state of the art building at the heart of the University Quarter in Stoke on Trent, adjacent to Stoke Railway Station, which provides excellent travel links.  All STEM students are taught in the University Science Centre which provides access to sophisticated university standard facilities.  In September 2017, the College achieved academy status as part of the Potteries Educational Trust.  The Trust is working collaboratively with educational institutions from across Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire and beyond, seeking to improve outcomes for all children and young people in the region.  In October 2017, Ofsted Inspectors graded the College ‘Good’ with several excellent features, and praised staff and students for creating a supportive learning community.  Inspectors were impressed with the relentless focus on improving the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, leading to our learners making good or excellent progress.  The College’s mission is ‘A caring community, delivering excellence and inspiring futures.’  

The College is seeking to appoint a full or part time teacher of Biology specialism able to teach A level, BTEC and GCSE courses. Applicants should be talented, enthusiastic and inspirational teachers who are flexible and have excellent communication skills. There is a strong commitment to continuous improvement and supporting learning within the Science team. The department has established good relationships with partner institutions including the local universities, FE Colleges and feeder schools.
