Job overview

We are seeking a well-qualified and highly skilled teacher of Biology to join our committed and innovative Science department. The successful candidate should be able to teach, inspire and motivate pupils through a diverse range of learning styles. Experience of teaching Biology up to A Level and at least one other Science subject up to GCSE would be an advantage. Our pupils follow the AQA specification at GCSE and A Level. We offer both the separate Science GCSE course and the Combined Award (Trilogy).

This is a full-time role. The successful candidate will be a team player and will be expected to contribute to the planning, teaching and assessment within the department. In addition to the main teaching responsibilities, an ability to deliver co-curricular Science and an enthusiasm and willingness to assist in trips and events is important in this dynamic and vibrant school. We are continually developing our range of teaching resources within the department and have seven well-equipped laboratories. Practical work is a key aspect of Science teaching, and we endeavour to provide a range of exciting opportunities for pupils to develop their skills. Our annual Science Fair allows our Year 7 pupils to indulge their love of Science as they plan and carry out their own investigations. We are looking for a teacher who consistently models excellent practice and can make a significant contribution to this strong and successful department.

Applications from ECTs will be welcomed but must be supported by a relevant degree as well as the ability to demonstrate an outstanding ability to teach.

Founded in 1993, the Harrodian School is co-educational and set in 25 acres of grounds with excellent facilities. Harrodian offers teachers and students alike a friendly, welcoming and exceptional school environment where classes are small, and standards and expectations are high. We place a strong emphasis on the ability to convey enthusiasm and enjoyment of the subject to students across the ability range. A sense of fun, a readiness to respond to students’ individual needs and an open approach to teaching are qualities that we value highly. A teacher’s willingness to assist with a large range of extra-curricular activities is important in this dynamic and vibrant school. Teaching staff are expected to offer support to the learning, pastoral and co-curricular needs of our pupils to ensure the all-round quality of education offered at Harrodian.

To apply, please email a covering letter in support of your application, addressed to Mrs Claire Bonnefous – Recruitment Officer and HR Assistant, a completed application form and full CV to recruitment@harrodian.com
