The Role

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and talented PE Teacher, required from 1st September 2019, for a Full time, Fixed term contract until 31st August 2020.

The ability to teach boys PE across the curriculum is a pre-requisite of the post.

Well suited to an NQT or a teacher looking to return to the classroom. 

Our PE Department

The successful candidate will enjoy the benefit of working alongside colleagues with experience, enthusiasm and a desire to move the department forward.  The work of the department is designed to support, contribute to and implement the aims of the college and achieves well locally and nationally.

Structured Schemes of Work at Key Stage 3 and 4 provide for progression, challenge and a sense of achievement.  All students in Years 7 - 9 receive 4 hours of PE per fortnight and Years 10-11 3 hours.  The programme includes: Athletics, Dance, Games, Gymnastics, Outdoor and Adventurous activities, Health and Fitness.

Students are also offered the opportunity to follow a Sports Leaders accreditation.

In addition, the department offers GCSE in Physical Education (AQA) as well as Btec Sport (Level 2 and 3). 

The department enjoys a strong position within the college and has a reputation for both inclusion and success.  Consequently, many students are encouraged to participate in the extensive extra-curricular programme catering for all ability levels, activities including:  Dance, Rugby, Football, Netball, Rounders, Athletics, Tennis, Basketball, Cricket, Gymnastics and Volleyball.

We are looking for: 

- The ability to teach Boys PE at KS3. 

- An outstanding teacher with excellent subject knowledge. 

- A practitioner who is keen to enthuse students of all abilities using a variety of approaches. 

- A willingness to use data to drive student performance and promote excellence. 

- This role could incorporate teaching of GCSE PE or Btec L2 Sport, depending on experience of the successful candidate 


Our School

Clyst Vale is a popular 11-18 Community College situated five miles from Exeter. Our inclusive ethos, students’ excellent behaviour and recent improvements were noted by Ofsted, and we seek innovative and enthusiastic colleagues to raise standards further. Clyst Vale has specialisms in Science, Maths and Computing.

Clyst Vale Community College is a mixed, non-denominational academy secondary school and sixth form for students aged 11-18. It is located in Broadclyst, near Exeter, in the county of Devon, and has about 900 pupils.

The academy is operated by the Clyst Vale Academy Trust and is specialist in science, maths and ICT.
