The School is seeking to employ a dynamic, enthusiastic and inspirational Teacher of Business and Economics from August 2021 to join our highly successful Business and Economics Department.
The Business and Economics Department currently consists of three full-time teachers, one of whom is a member of the Senior Leadership Team. There are two classrooms and a base. The Department is very well resourced. Business and Economics is offered to all pupils from Transitus (Primary 7) to Sixth Year. Currently in Transitus pupils study Transitus Studies for one period a week and in First Year pupils have one period of Businesps Studies and Economics on rotation and in Second Year, one period of Economics on rotation with Modern Studies. Pupils also participate in Young Enterprise and various other competitions throughout the year.
At certificate level, the department currently teaches National 5 Economics, Higher and Advanced Higher Economics and Higher and Advanced Higher Business Management and the successful candidate would hopefully have experience of teaching both courses.
The Department’s academic record is excellent. In 2020, 100% of Economics candidates achieved passes at National 5 level, 80% at Grade A. At Higher, 88% of candidates achieved grades A-C, 58% at Grade A, and at Advanced Higher 100% of candidates achieved grades A-C. In Business Management, at Higher, 100% of candidates achieved grades A-C, 62% at Grade A, and at Advanced Higher 100% of candidates achieved grades A-C.
In session 2020-2021, 41 pupils are studying Economics in Third Year and 41 in Fourth Year; 10 are taking Economics and 19 Business Management at Higher with 9 and 7 at Advanced Higher respectively.
Salary will be above the national scale. Application forms and further information may be downloaded from our website. The appointment will begin on Monday 16 August 2021. Candidates must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS).
The appointment will be subject to a successful application to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
