We are seeking to appoint a full time teacher of A Level Business Studies and Economics and Level 3 BTEC Business Studies with some tutorial responsibility for a suitably qualified candidate for September 2017. This permanent position is a main scale post (£22,937- £38,364) with an additional London Fringe allowance of £994 per annum. 

The Business and IT Department comprises of Level 3 provision in Business Studies, Economics and IT and Level 2 provision in Business Studies. Its current staffing complement consists of 5 full-time and 3 part-time teachers. 

Almost 200 students currently study A1/A2 Business (AQA), A1/A2 Economics (EDEXCEL) or A1/A2 ICT (OCR) with a further 200 studying L3 BTECs in either Business Studies or IT. In addition, L2 BTEC Business is taught to approximately 20 students.

A Level Examination results have been in line with the national averages and some of the courses within the Department enjoy success rates above the national averages. Value-added measures of performance show many students performing consistently at or above their expected level of achievement. A number of students proceed to first degrees in 

Business or Economics and related subjects or into Business and IT Apprenticeships.

The Business and IT Department is located in the Tercentenary Building and benefits from discreet teaching and learning facilities with interactive whiteboards and appropriate software in every classroom as well as designated IT rooms including an additional teaching room specifically for BTEC IT. Teachers in the Department have their own workspaces in the purpose-built office accommodation within the teaching block, and most teaching staff are provided with their own laptop. 

The Department runs various trips and visits to support students’ learning as well as extra-curricular activities including Young Enterprise and the £10 Challenge and a residential trip to New York. 

There is a strong culture of student support within the Business and IT Department and the College as a whole. Students studying Business and IT are encouraged to make full use of the whole of the well-resourced College.

IT facilities, and the Library and Learning Resources Centre has an extensive collection of subject-related resources and maintains a subscription to a range of subject resources.
