Bede's seeks to appoint an outstanding Business teacher as a maternity cover for the academic year 2021-2022.

You will be enthusiastic and inspirational, determined to inspire young Business students and to help inculcate a very real love for the subject. We offer Business at GCSE and A Level (where it is consistently one of our most popular options) and Economics at A Level. We also offer Business BTEC at both Level 2 and Level 3. Depending on your interests, you could be teaching any or all of these courses.

The Business Department is under the aegis of Mr Barry Jackson, and Mr James Whitaker, who is the Head of the Humanities Faculty. As well as being a part of the faculty, you will also play a full role in the pastoral and co-curricular life of the school.

Bede’s Senior School, located in Hailsham, East Sussex is an independent, co-educational, secondary school for children aged between 13 and 19. It was founded in 1979 by Peter Pyemont. The building covers 140 acres of the Sussex Downs. It is both a day and boarding school. There are approximately 125 girls and 173 boys at the school at present. It was established in 1895 in Eastbourne as a preparatory school for boys. It then became a senior boarding school in 1978 and later in 1979 it moved to its current premises. There are five boarding houses for the children. These houses were surveyed in 2013 and valued for their Outstanding Design and Innovation.

Values and Vision

The school believes every pupil should be given equal opportunities to reach their goals. The children are the main focus. They have over 40 subjects to choose from at GCSE level and even more choices during sixth form. Each child should develop personally, as well as academically. They are encouraged to be creative and take part in school clubs. People in the community are valued, and students are prompted to teach residents IT, English, music and art skills.

“Health and safety procedures ensure that the premises, accommodation and facilities are maintained to appropriate standards. A range of formal and informal opportunities is provided for boarders to express their views. Effective use is made of electronic means of communication to enable boarders to contact their families. Records pertaining to boarders’ personal and academic development are carefully maintained. An appropriate police and regular checking procedures ensure that the whereabouts of every boarder is known. The school has a suitable complaints policy and records show that it is rarely used but effectively implemented where necessary.”
