The Humanities Department at Brighton College comprises five subjects: History, Geography, Economics, Social Studies and Story of our Land, with a view to introducing Business for the 2017-2018 academic year. Whilst each is taught discretely, Story of our Land is unique to the Brighton family of Schools and has drawn international media coverage for its innovative fusion of the Humanities subjects, winning the praise of the British Government. Pupils at Brighton College Al Ain undertake a specially tailored version of this exciting course, embarking on a chronological voyage through the changing geopolitical landscape of the United Arab Emirates.

The Humanities Department in the Senior School is characterized by a strong sense of collaboration and the restless pursuit of outstanding pupil progress. Its members strive to ensure that both the curriculum and its delivery offer a rich and diverse range of experiences to both improve and inspire our pupils.

Our vision is to propel pupils of the Humanities to rates of progress that are equal to those of the finest schools in the world. The Humanities Department is swiftly becoming a beacon of outstanding progress by creating and developing a culture of excellence in everything it does.

Applications are invited from first rate Business teachers who can also offer Economics. Candidates need to have a relevant degree, at least two years teaching experience and a clear understanding of teaching at Key Stage 3, (I)GCSE and A level. The ability to offer other humanities subjects would be advantageous. We are looking for candidates who blend creativity and rigour in the classroom, are highly committed and possess excellent organisational and communication skills.

Many of our full-time teachers are also House Tutors. All members of the teaching staff are expected to provide extra-curricular activities and will also be required to contribute to the wider community life of the College.
